Advance Practice Registered Nurse Surgical Speciality

Duties will include patient histories, physical exams, patient education and pharmacological management of medical conditions. This NP will provide for the initial and ongoing assessment of patients within different specialties (including but not limited to Podiatry, Urology, General Surgery, ENT) utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, and facilitate this specialized nursing care and order appropriate diagnostic tests as needed. She/he will evaluate and interpret medical data to formulate a plan of care based on the patient's history and diagnostic findings. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions and ordering treatments. This APRN will report directly to the Podiatry Section Chief with professional oversight by the Nurse Manager. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Master's Degree in Nursing Required. National Certification as a Family, Adult or Gerontology Nurse Practitioner from the ANCC or AANP required. Preferred Requirements/
Qualifications:
A minimum of three (3) years of successful clinical practice required. Previous podiatry or urology experience strongly preferred. Prescriptive authority requirements include evidence of national certification and completion of upper division education in pharmacology highly recommended. Demonstrated sound judgment, nursing process and critical thinking skills preferred, Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Demonstrated skills in effectively collaborating with and directing multidisciplinary teams in previous assignments. Knowledge of computer systems and standard software programs required. Demonstrated skills in managing complex systems, with advanced organizational skills. Knowledge and understanding of Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) regulations/policies/procedures, current Joint Commission standards for Ambulatory Care, and other current internal and external accrediting body standards. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
