RN Substance Abuse IOP Coordinator

The Orlando VA Medical Center is a seeking a RN Substance Abuse/Intensive Outpatient Program Coordinator who will be assigned to the Viera Outpatient Clinic and serve a dual role as both program coordinator and substance abuse RN. As a clinician, the incumbent interviews Veterans and their family members/significant others to establish facts about the Veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the Veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment. Interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit programs. He/she reviews all data, subjective and objective, and makes a clinical assessment identifying needs and strengths. Effectively uses professional skill, objectivity, and insight. Uses advanced clinical training, insight, and experience to interpret data and to identify viable treatment options. Assesses high risk factors, acuity and need for services. Provides referral to VA medical and mental health treatment and to other VA services including VA benefits, as well as community-based social services and other non-VA entitlement programs. As the Program Coordinator of the IOP, the incumbent will be responsible for program content and developing a data monitoring system to measure the efficacy of the program. The incumbent collects analyze and reports program data to Mental Health Nursing and local management as needed. Evaluates program progress and outcomes and utilizes data to continuously modify and improve the program and processes. Directs/coordinates clinical services and is accountable for the overall effectiveness of the services provided. Modifies services to best meet the treatment needs of Veterans and to promote efficient practice. Directs activities to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and continuity of care for Veterans. Provides case management services to those Veterans at high social or medical risk, serving as the liaison to other treatment programs. Represents the Viera VA OPC in contacts with other agencies and the public. The Substance Abuse RN/IOP Coordinator practices independently, using professional judgment and expertise to make decisions about services and treatment provided to Veterans and their significant others/family members. This RN will report to the NM, MH in Viera. Work Schedule:
Work hours will be Monday - Friday (8:
00 am - 4:
30 pm), with rotating tours of duty and travel as needed. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/11/2019. Basic Requirements:
US Citizenship required; English Language Proficiency required; Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by the ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education - formerly the NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a registered nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the US or in the District of Columbia; Previous substance abuse experience highly desired; BLS required; Demonstrated ability in previous assignments to make critical decisions in stressful environments; Demonstrated dependability for duty and flexibility in work assignments and hours in previous assignments; Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision. Experience:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred; National certification in Case Management or Mental Health is preferred. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
