Social Worker (Substance Abuse)

The Substance Abuse Social Worker work with Veterans with health care and psychosocial problems where needs are complex and require a high degree of clinical oversight and creative problem solving. The incumbent is required to interact not only with the patient but also family, significant others, community agencies, and other staff. Additional duties of the position are:
Interviews Veterans and their family members/significant others to establish facts about the Veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the Veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment. Interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit programs. Effectively uses professional skill, objectivity, and insight. Uses clinical training, insight, and experience to interpret data and to identify viable treatment options. Assesses high risk factors, acuity, and need for services. Assesses at-risk factors and develops a preliminary disposition plan involving the Veteran and family or significant others. Performs insightful assessment of serious and complicated cases involving substance use/abuse involving psychiatric, catastrophic medical conditions, dementia and other high-risk diagnoses. Makes professional decisions and recommendations for agency action. Develops psychosocial treatment plans, including goals for clinical treatment. Using known available resources and the initial assessment of the Veteran's likelihood to accept differing types of assistance, make initial and continuing decisions regarding use of VA and non-VA services and referrals. The incumbent makes adjustments to the treatment plan and interventions based on changing needs and response to interventions. The incumbent participates in the assignment of Veterans to treatment teams and programs. Provides individual and group counseling services, including psychotherapy. Additional and special assignments that are necessary to meet program goals or customer needs. Work Schedule:

30pm The selectee may be required to work or travel between any of the locations within Corporate Orlando, including the Lake Nona campus. The selectee may also be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis, based on patient care needs. Functional Statement:

United States Citizenship Education:
Must have a Master's Degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Licensure:
Must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the Master's Degree level. English Language:
Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Experience:
In addition to the basic requirements, the GS-11 level requires completion of a minimum of (1) year of post-MSW degree experience in the field of health care social work (VA or no-VA experience) and licensure or certification in a state at the independent practice level. References:

The position requires performance of work which involves light physical effort, such as that involved in lifting light files, bending, standing, reaching, operating office equipment such as telephone, copier, fax machine, scanner, etc. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
