Overview:
Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) has an opening in our Building Inspection Department.
UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.
As a Building Inspection Department Manager, you will be responsible for performing structural building inspection duties as well as inspect commercial and residential buildings, which are under construction or being repaired, remodeled, or enlarged and ensuring structural integrity and compliance with building codes and ordinances.
You are also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Building Inspection Department.

Job
Responsibilities:
Maximize long and short term profits for the Building Inspections Department Meet with various clients and solicit business Supervises hires, terminates, evaluates, and mentors employees Quotes costs and fees to clients Prepare proposals and reports Perform Structural Building Inspection duties (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing as licensed).
Inspect commercial and residential buildings, which are under construction or are being repaired, remodeled or enlarged and is performed during various stages of completion to ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes/ordinances.
Manage the department- building inspectors, plan reviewers, and quality control inspectors Determines whether changes may be required in plans and makes recommendations to contractors, engineers, architects, etc.
Performs inspections of foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing, and related construction work.
Maintains accurate, complete, and current inspection records.
Exercises tact and courtesy when conducting inspections.
Prepare reports and report data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion and return as required to branch office.
Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy.
Ensure that project requirements are met and compliant with inspection specifications, requirements and company policies or procedures.
Travel to various job sites at locations locally Other duties may be assigned Required
Qualifications:
Valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving record State of Florida Building Inspector License Building Code Administrator >Education and/or
Experience:
Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria) Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification) Must be able to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
