POSITION SUMMARY :
ROLES AND
Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Engineer propulsion systems into vessels including:
outboard, jet, stern drive, inboard, and joystick controlled applications.
Responsible for system rigging components including steering, underwater gear, exhaust, and other mechanical bilge systems.
Supporting engineer for other naval, mechanical, and propulsion systems to ensure that product development schedules and engineering department goals are attained.
Create specifications for propulsion systems, which include component selection, layout & critical installation requirements.
Develop and track Bill Of Material (BOM) cost projections for responsible systems during New Product Development (NPD).
Coordinate efforts with suppliers to develop and implement new components and systems within design requirements, timing and budget constraints.
Design models and obtain packaging parameters while utilizing on staff CAD Designers operating with Unigraphics software to create engineering drawings.
Monitors fabrication and installation activities of prototype components to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design intent.
Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate future problems.
Develop innovative solutions to carry out conceptual design intent into an engineered solution for production.
Manage the integration of innovative concepts into craft design including engineering, financial planning, tooling, and production logistics.
Present technical presentations to senior level management to convey matters of strategy, investigation, and/or development of propulsion and mechanical systems.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field required.
Unigraphics or similar CAD software experience highly preferred.
Marine industry experience preferred.
Working knowledge of standards applied by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and board of directors.
